Medics from the Russian Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) taught German virologists how to transport patients infected with the Ebola virus during a training exercise at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport on Thursday. The presentation involved special medical equipment designed for the transportation of patients infected with highly contagious viruses like Ebola.

Special modules are already installed in two Antonov An-148 planes that ensure complete isolation of the infected subject thanks to them working without an external air source. The so-called ‘biobag’ capsules can operate in an autonomous regime up to nine hours straight.

Besides the capsules the German specialists were familiarised with Russian protective clothing as well as quarantine rooms for those suspected of being infected.
